25 Ways To Be Present

Happy Sunday! We've made it through another week:-) For us there are only two more weeks of school and we are all ready to be done. We're finally having some gorgeous weather here in IL and we're ready to open the windows and be outside!

On Wednesday I went live on Instagram with my friend Bridgett Piacenti. Bridgett is an incredible, wise woman, a yoga teacher and meditation instructor and one of my best friends. We met working our first job in advertising together and became instant friends. We used to sit in our cubes discussing all the things: fashion, relationships, how people think, how brands should market their goods/services. We always joked we wanted our own show to share all our ideas.

We chatted being present in our lives, the growth process we are all in and about the gifts we get when we stop focusing too much on the future, but learn to live with what's infront of us. You can check our conversation out here

On Tuesday, I'll be going live with my friend Stefanie Boyce. Stefanie is a writer, speaker, teacher and overall amazing woman who is working alongside Bob Goff to build programs for The Oaks. We'll be talking about being present and how we shape our identities. Join us on my Instagram Page

I hope these 25 ideas might offer some practical ways for you to be more present in your life. It takes practice for sure. I'm practicing right along with you.

  1. Simplify a space. Declutter even just a small area.

  2. Say NO to something that does not fuel your soul.

  3. Spend 15 minutes each day in prayer or meditation. If you don’t do either of those, 15 minutes in silence is great too.

  4. Go for a walk with no phone or music.

  5. Go out of your way to take care of someone.

  6. What belief or idea are you struggling with? Take time to journal about it.

  7. Cook a meal that you’ve been wanting to make. Eat it slowly.

  8. Wake up early and have some time to yourself.

  9. Focus on feeding your body healthy food for the next week. See how you feel.

  10. Notice the eyelashes, hands, finger, eyes or features of someone you love.

  11. What are you struggling with? How can you reframe it?

  12. Send a note to someone you want to encourage. Snail mail is ideal.

  13. Exercise and notice your heartbeat and breath.

  14. Turn up a song you love and dance.

  15. Turn off the TV or whatever background noise you have on during the day.

  16. Paint a picture with your children, grandchildren or friends.

  17. Practice art - whatever art makes you come alive. Spend time doing that.

  18. Drive in the car in silence.

  19. What is something you’ve been avoiding? Make a plan to address it.

  20. Investigate a cause that matters to you and see how you can be involved.

  21. Turn off your phone for a weekend (or at least a day)

  22. If 21 isn’t an option, take social media off your phone for the weekend.

  23. Tell a friend you trust about your biggest dream. One you really want to bring to life.

  24. Practice listening and observing.

  25. Write down something you are grateful for everyday for a week.
